Test-bed Application


We are developing a pursuit-evasion/search&rescue application scenario with the aim of providing a means to access, validate and demonstrate the ART-WiSe Framework architecture. The objective of the application is to detect, localize and track the target robot in distress, until the rescuer, aided by the WSN abilities, gets close enough to it.

This kind of application, besides imposing stringent timing requirements to the underlying communication infrastructure, also involves interesting research problems in WSNs, like tracking and localization, which is a major matter in this kind of location aware applications. Additionally, this search and rescue scenario can be easily ported into a real-world applicability. Surveillance is another example where this kind of functionality can be applied.
